Deacon Barbara Gibson
The Reverend Barbara Gibson began a career as a medical technologist at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, served on a former governor’s Legislative Task force on Access to Healthcare for the Medically Indigent and Homeless and on the Statewide Health Coordinating Council. She holds a Master of Science in Health Administration. Barbara was ordained to the Sacred order of Deacons in January 2011. She is a graduate of the Kansas School for Ministry, now the Bishop Kemper School for Ministry. She served at St. John’s in Wichita for three years then part-time at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wichita and Episcopal Social Services-Breakthrough Club as volunteer coordinator and chaplain and now is a deacon at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Newton. Deacon Gibson is a certified Education for Ministry mentor. She has served as president of National Alliance for Mental Illness Mid-Kansas (NAMI) and teaches a12-week NAMI Family-to-Family class. Among the highlights of her ministry are her travels to Kenya with Kansas to Kenya Ministry.
Charlie Gibson, Office Administrator
Charlie is a recent graduate of Bethel College. She is from southwestern Kansas, a small town called Ashland, where her family owns a small cow-calf operation. At Bethel Charlie studied Bible and Religion, and lived with my grandma, your own Deacon Barbara! Charlie recently moved to Hesston with her fiancé and their cat, and are keeping ourselves busy with wedding planning. Both Charlie and her fiancé enjoy reading, playing video games, singing and are involved in the Central Kansas Master Chorale, a local choir.
